I’ve found a new way to get fit
(Aka hurt myself)
Reflecting as I’m getting closer to fifty…
(I actually stopped writing when I wrote that, thinking ‘geeze I’m getting old!!!’)
…but as I was saying…
As I’m getting a little older, I’m always looking for ways to keep my fitness levels up, so I can still manage everything in my every day, and also be in shape to enjoy my football
(Can we just all agree soccer is called football? Great… let’s keep going…)
And yes, I’m still playing at this age!
So a recent addition to my fitness habit is something lovingly called the “Hucks”
I’m still not sure why its called that??
But its short for the Hakaramatas Nature Walk
it’s just over 1,400 steps, and is meant to take 45 minutes to get to the top
(I saw “meant to”, more on that later)
And I have a feeling I’ll have quite a few stories about this one, as I aim to do it at least once a week
But as you work you way up the climb, there are different slogans embossed on the walkway
To give you that pep talk
That “go get em tiger”
As you’re wondering what part of stupid made you want to do this
And one of those says this:
“Sweat is just your fat crying”
I love that
I love it even more as I’m writing this to you versus the part where I wasn’t loving it so much as I was at about step 800 and saw it
There was a smirk on my face I think
I was too busy trying to breathe
But if you need a reminder to build something into your routine, that’s both hard and rewarding, use this as that
And also know, when you sweat, it’s not you –
it’s just your fat crying…
